Selenium Rd 3. Selenium won the match by a big score of 3.5 to .5 . Ivio was busted. But he kept putting the pressure on, move after move. Finally he got to a drawn position. Continuing to pile on the pressure his opponent cracks.

Tellurium Rd 2. cesaralexander was losing at first, then got to an even position. But he made more good moves at the end of the game and scored the point.

Round 3 Games

Technetium AND Tellurium Rd 3. The teams play each other! But I'm probably getting ahead of myself here on the games. I still have some round 2 games to show, TerryMalloy's interesting draw, cesaralexander's win and Salvatore kicking butt but missing the win. I will get to those games soon. Here is an interesting game just played in round 3.

Rubidium Rd 2. Barie completely out-played his opponent to a winning position. But the ending part was, well, uh, no offense to anybody, a real bloody mess by both players.

Livis Wins Nicely

Bohrium Rd 2. It looked like Livis was on the defensive. All of a sudden he opened up the King-side and got a decisive attack. A real good game.

FlyingTiger Wins Again

Technetium Rd 2. FlyingTiger was playing his second game of the day. This was a rout. Interestingly his U1800 game was versus a 1847 and his U2000 game was versus a 1487.

31 players from 16 countries.

All three U2000 teams were placed in the same division! It's a six team section so each team will play the others once.

Some of you are playing in the 90 30 tournaments. That's good. But scheduling your games in this league must come first.

In T48 the element teams had zero forfeits! But in T49 we had five of them. That's still not a lot but let's aim for zero. Myself and your captain insist on this.

I want to thank all the captains and their assistants for making this group of teams a reality.

Chess2Play joins Niobium for T50. Here's a playoff game from way back in T36 in the U1600 section. A few mistakes from both players but very instructional. Chess2Play's team ended up winning the championship.
